What are PPC and CPM?
AdBrite uses two distinct pricing methods to help determine what advertisers
pay and consequently, the way in which publishers earn.
The first of these, PPC or 'Pay Per Click', is
used for adBrite's text ads. Publishers earn an amount when a PPC ad
on their site is clicked.
CPM or 'Cost Per Thousand', is the method AdBrite uses for banner and full
page ads. With CPM, a charge is made to the advertiser for 1000 views or 'impressions' of their ad. Publishers earn a percentage of this every time the ad is viewed on their site.

Ad zones and selling ads
Publishers working with adBrite use various template options to create
different 'ad zones' in their sites.
As with any advertising program, there's no absolute guarantee that ads
will appear in all these zones as this always depends on whether advertisers
choose to use your site.
However, to improve publishers' chances adBrite recommend the use of two
particular ad zone formats: text ads (Pay Per Click ) and banner ads (Cost
Per Impression). This is because ad content for these zones is automatically
assigned to sites using targeting criteria such as keywords, geographical location,
etc. In contrast, 'site specific' ads such as video can only appear on a publisher's site
if an advertiser requests this.
If PPC ads are shown, the publisher earns an amount whenever the ad is
legitimately
clicked. The actual figure is determined by the price the advertiser has
paid to run the ads.
For CPM ads, an amount is earned for each 'impression' - or each time the
ad is shown. Again, payment is determined by what the advertiser pays.
As far as site specific ads are concerned, publishers are able to set
their own minimum rate at which advertisers can compete to use this space, or alternatively, allow adBrite to determine
a price based on advertiser demand.

Creating ads, tracking performance
All adBrite members have access to their own administrative areas and a
wide range of powerful tools.
For publishers, the admin area is where ad zone code is generated using
easy to follow templates. The resulting code is then cut and pasted into
position on your website or blog.
(see also any restrictions? > formatting below)
The admin area also give details of earnings,
as well as statistics relating to the performance of ads and the option
to review (and reject, if required) any of the ads currently shown on
your site.

Any restrictions?
AdBrite is extremely flexible regarding sign-up
to its program, although sites involving pornography, racism
or other defamatory subject matter are prohibited.
Publishers can also choose to filter any advertising
content on their sites automatically (by excluding ads for organisations such as casinos,
for example) or individually via their admin
area.
In addition, publishers are given the right to personally approve any request for specific
advertising on their sites before it can
run.
As far as use of ads within sites is concerned, adBrite
allow a generous total of three zones of each advertising product
per page, with the exception of BritePic and InVideo, which is
unlimited. And for obvious reasons, if more than one CPM banner
ad is displayed on a single page, the code for each must
be different so that impressions are not falsely duplicated.
Adbrite ads can be shown
together with other advertising that meets company policy, and
in fact, in certain circumstances the use of other ads is even encouraged through a clever (and extremely
useful) system known as Reserve Pricing.
Because adBrite are aware that publishers' ad
zones will not necessarily be filled all the time, reserve pricing
involves using code in your pages from another advertising program -
Google's AdWords, for example - and assigning it a special label in the adBrite admin area.
If Adbrite receive a bid for a higher paying
ad from their own advertisers, its content is automatically
replaced with the new ad. Simple, yet very smart!
Formatting
Ad code creation is extremely straightforward, with multiple formatting
options available for text ads. Color schemes can be edited directly
in the template, or, for those with knowledge of CSS, color and
font styles may be altered in the code to best suit your site.
